SOFTWARE · SPATIAL · DATA
I’m Jake — a software developer and geospatial analyst who enjoys turning data and ideas into useful things.
A LITTLE SPATIAL PLAYGROUND
Geospatial is data connected to a place. Click or tap the railway map, then set a search distance to find nearby features. Focus the map and use the arrow keys to move your spot.

Imaginary region, 21 km across. Distances are straight-line, not along the tracks. Roads, tracks, rivers and markers are symbolic and not shown at actual width.
01 / A LITTLE ABOUT ME
I’m a developer with a strong interest in how software and spatial data can make complex systems easier to understand and work with.
I enjoy turning intricate information into useful tools, clear maps, and dependable workflows. I’m currently working in the railway geospatial industry, but my curiosity extends well beyond any one field.
My background also includes building for the web, and I bring that product-minded approach to every problem — from the underlying data to the experience people use every day.
02 / WHAT I BRING
A mix of engineering, spatial thinking, and practical problem-solving.
Building thoughtful software and web experiences, with an eye for maintainable code and the people using it.
Working with location-based data to analyse networks, reveal patterns, and make information easier to use.
Connecting the dots between data, systems, and people to make complex information more useful.
03 / EXPERIENCE
A hiatus from software development.
Major in spatial science technologies.
CURRENT
Working with geospatial technology in the railway industry.
